Life happens! I repeat this mantra when I’m feeling overwhelmed and can’t get off the proverbial hamster wheel. One of the things that kept me from launching my blog was my fear of not being able to post consistently. And that is exactly what has happened over the past two weeks- I was running on the hamster wheel trying to manage work, home, and a weekend-long celebration for my daughter’s college graduation and consequently blogging fell to the bottom of my to-do list. Aaargh! But I’m back at it.
When I’m falling into a shame spiral (like I was over not blogging), I remind myself of what I often tell my counseling clients, “All we can do is ride over the bumps and keep going. Take a break, step off the wheel and enjoy what’s in front of you. Take care of yourself and don’t beat yourself up for the little things that didn’t get done.”
Take time this weekend to relax and enjoy connecting with friends, family, and yourself! If you didn’t get to everything you wanted to do this week, remember that life happens- you can always get back to it on Monday!
