How to Style a Bookcase…

how to style bookshelves

I don’t get  all of the posts about “styling a bookcase.” What ever happened to reading books and sticking them in your bookcase? Why do you have to purposely arrange all of your accessories with a few coffee table books? I guess people don’t read actual books these days- call me old fashioned. Well I am old, but I like real books. I love to start a new book, turning the first page into a different world. Escaping into someone else’s story. It’s a tactile experience that cannot be duplicated.

I love this bookcase with it’s floor-to-ceiling books. I want it!

Interior Inspiration :: Console Vignette

This vignette that makes me my heart sing! Each piece in the vintage collection is delicate yet makes a bold statement as one. The jewel-like details engage the eye. And I love symmetry (check that out here). I’m coveting that piece in the center! Is it a trophy? The whole thing works.

Interior Inspiration :: Simply perfect

I find beauty in simplicity. Originally built in 1784, the building serves as a contemporary art exhibition space called Raven Row designed by 6a Architects. The floors, the palette, the fireplace surround, oh my!  So simple and soft. Beautiful…

Let me count the ways…

  1. Pastel Eames chairs
  2. Old wood floors
  3. Painted black mantel with simple vignette
  4. Potted flowers
  5. Capiz chandelier
  6. Wine and bread
  7.  COLLECTION OF VINTAGE OIL PAINTINGS!!!

I adore the color palette and feel of this room. I like it because it has a modern vibe yet steers clear of current trends (except maybe the “gallery wall”). I want it. In my house.
